Medical equipment, today, has evolved to focus on preventative care in addition to treatment. New technologies will assist physicians with helping patients, but they will also create opportunities for patients to take a more proactive approach to their care. For example, artificial intelligence will facilitate physicians in detecting diseases through biopsy readings. AI technology will be able to identify those who are susceptible to self-harm through algorithms that can sift through social media posts, e-health records, and other information to flag words or concepts associated with self-harm.

AI is also creating a platform where patients play a more prominent role in their care. For example, wearable technology will allow patients to easily monitor glucose levels, in addition to other information. Tele-health will also be an invaluable tool in helping people who live in remote areas or the elderly access non-emergency medical assistance from their homes.
